As a result of almost 70 years of Soviet rule, buildings of this period comprise a large part of urban Moscow. Furthermore, Stalin’s plan for the city’s reconstruction in 1935 defines its structure, in part, even to this day. Some attribute modernism and later trends (from the eras of Khrushchev, Brezhnev, and Gorbachev) to this period in Soviet history.
