Moscow must-see sights
In contrast to our list of the Top 7 places to see in Moscow, these “must-sees” are the most significant or “stereotypical” spots, visited by almost all Moscow travelers.
Do not be turned off by the popularity of these locations (they are far more than examples of effective tourist marketing); their very popularity, cultural and historical significance and relatively proximate locations are the very reasons we include them here and in almost all of our sightseeing packages.
We offer guided tours with some of Moscow’s best licensed experts to ensure the form and content of your travel package is right for you.
Lenin's Mausoleum
This famous tomb on Red Square is Lenin's burial vault, and a sarcophagus with his embalmed body has been put on display. It is open to visit free of charge from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. It is true that it is often closed due to maintenance work, with no other explanations given.
Red Square
This is the most important square not only in Moscow, but in the whole country. It is the main sight of Russia, its calling card, a central symbolic and somewhat mystical place, whose turns of fate are inextricably linked with the ups and downs of Russian history. The ensemble of the square is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Bolshoi Theatre
The Bolshoi Theater remains a legend to this day. In addition to ballet and opera, it is now possible to visit its backstage as part of a special tour inside the Bolshoi Theater.
GUM - Main Department Store
GUM – the classic mall for souvenirs, a cup of coffee with a view on Red Square, and simply a landmark building for Moscow. We suggest visiting it during a sightseeing tour, or after a visit to the Moscow Kremlin.
Saint Basil’s Cathedral tour
This cathedral is arguably the most famous portrayal of Moscow. It is impossible to simply walk past it, and few people decline to take the classic photograph with it in the background. Still, we suggest going inside this 8th wonder of the world.
